If you want to upgrade your server to Windows Server R2 Standard, please follow the steps in resolution. It would make things so much easier.. If I look at my Users page I see a total of 42 users, 11 of which are inactive.
Basically I'm not at all sure if inactive users count. I could delete the inactive users, then could also delete some of the active users since they are accounts for employees who no longer work here - and in the end I would be below So overall, does anyone know for sure if Inactive users count? If they do, is it fine to just hide them from the dashboard to get rid of the error?

Whatever accounts are showing under users tab in dashboard will count so be it active or inactive accounts they will count. The accounts which you do not want to show up in dashboard, please make them the member of WSEInvisibletoDashboard group that ways they will not be seen in dashboard.

I see this error in the Windows Server Essentials Dashboard: "Domain user accounts limit exceeded Windows Server R2 Essentials supports a maximum of 25 domain users. Wednesday, June 10, PM. My feeling is that hiding "real" users from the dashboard does not really comply with the spirit of the EULA. Best to remove them. But if hiding them removes the warning and you are good with that I won't say anything.
Monday, June 15, PM. Hiding is for service accounts, not inactive users or unemployed users. If you have less than 25 active users you should clean things up otherwise upgrade to server standard : Grey. Thursday, June 11, PM. I'm guessing you meant " more than 25 active users".. That is the part that is confusing me. If users marked as "inactive" count I don't think I could get the count under 25, but if only active users count I would be able to make it.
